Food for School Program – Nicaragua

During June 2011, Maureen and Charlotte Gorman, one of Keenan’s wonderful childhood friends (pictured above with her cement bucket and some of the village children), made a mission trip together to the village of Chonco, Nicaragua.  Maureen and Charlotte spent an entire week mixing and hauling cement to help build the Comedor (children’s feeding center), and organizing art and other inspirational projects for the children in the Chonco community. “I’ve never done anything like this before” said Charlotte, “it’s a wonderful feeling to help children with such limited opportunity, and at the same time share in Keenan’s dream.”

Through its Food for School Program, Keenan’s Kids will provide breakfast and lunch to each child that attends school from morning through mid day. “Our partnership with Amigos for Christ is working perfectly. Amigos has brought water, a school and other infrastructure to Chonco to support education and a brighter future, and we are feeding the children. Together, we are building the Comedor, which we hope will be completed in September, when the new school term begins,” said Maureen. “Everyone is so excited, and I know that Keenan is smiling.”

Thank you Charlotte, Amigos and Maureen!!!
