Summer in Kathmandu

It is summer in Kathmandu, Nepal. Temperatures range up to 90  degrees, yet it feels hotter because the monsoon season is now here. Orchid Garden Nepal (OGN) continues its work at the Daycare, taking care of of the many children from the lowest caste, whose parents must work in the hot and humid weather. OGN is truly a blessing for these families.

Over time, Keenan’s Kids has helped to improve the living conditions of these children. Originally receiving only one meal of milk and rice a day, their diets now include two meals a day and are supplemented with chicken, vegetables and fruit.

It is Keenan’s birthday today, June 21st, the longest day of the year, the summer solstice and world music day. And we know that today she is listening to the loveliest music of all – the laughter of these children of the world, whom she loved so much. Her spirit carries on…
